For universities, research networks

In addition to the objective set out in the Bylaws of the Association, the founding members of the Association are convinced that a thorough knowledge of the administration of justice under the rule of law, deeply rooted in European traditions, is an essential component of a general legal culture. Although the transmission of this knowledge is currently present in legal education, we believe that with the active involvement of judges, a transfer of knowledge can be created that will enable the future generation of lawyers to better understand the functioning of the judiciary, the process of judicial decision-making and to get to know the judicial profession better.

In addition to their work as judges, many of the Association’s members are also involved in scientific activities and teaching at universities. Building on our professional and scientific experience, and in consultation with interested higher education institutions, we aim to deepen students’ knowledge of the organisation of the judiciary, its place in the system of separation of powers and the status of judges, to familiarise them with the personal and organisational conditions and limits of judicial independence, the basic characteristics of judicial decision-making, and the legal and extra-legal factors influencing a judge’s decision. In order to achieve this, with the participation of speakers from different areas and levels of the judiciary

  • we hold seminars, for which we develop educational topics and support materials
  • we participate in TDK (tudományos diákkör, scientific student group) presentations,
  • we organise and moderate panel discussions,
  • our members participate as speakers or panellists at conferences and professional events at universities.
